Toys For Tots Collection Spots

Captain Mike Hurley, Newtown Coordinator, has announced that the 2012 Toys For Tots Collection is underway. The following local business and professional groups have volunteered to be collection locations in Newtown.  They are:

*Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, 45 South Main Street (telephone 203-426-5679);

*Dodgingtown Fire Department, 55 Dodgingtown Road (203-270-4386);

*National Shooting Sports Foundation, 11 Mile Hill Road (203-426-1320);

*Newtown Police Department, 3 Main Street (203-270-4255);

*Newtown Youth Academy, 4 Primrose Street (203-304-1830);

*Panera Bread, 228 South Main Street (within Sand Hill Plaza; 203-426-3977);

*Dr John Popowich, 71 South Main Street #3 (203-300-4922 or 203-304-9037);

*Prudential Connecticut Realty, 84-A South Main Street (203-426-8426); and

*Society Of Plastics Engineers, 13 Church Hill Road (203-775-0471).

Drop-off of new and unwrapped toys need to be done regular business hours.

The final day of this year’s collection is Monday, December 17. All toys will be collected and distributed to the needy by the United States Marine Corps Reserve Detachment of Ridgefield. All are volunteers.

Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charity. Donations made to Toys for Tots are tax deductible.

The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help needy children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of this nation’s most valuable natural resources: its children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.
