    Benjamin A. Palagonia, 88, of Sherman died September 2 in New Milford Hospital. He was born March 30, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a son of the late Giroloma (Buscemi) and Joseph Palagonia.

  • Stanley Earl Verry

    Stanley Earl Verry, 89, a resident of Hampton, Va., since 1998, and a longtime former resident of Newtown, died August 30 at his residence, with family at his side. He was the husband to the late Evelyn (Valentine) Verry. Born in Providence, R.I., he was one of two sons born to Mildred (Carpenter) and Edwin Verry.

  • Margaret Valine

    Margaret “Peggy” (Steck) Valine, 78, of Boynton Beach, Fla., formerly of Newtown, Danbury, and East Haven, died unexpectedly August 20. She was the wife of the late Wilbur “Willie” Carl Valine, Jr. She was born in Danbury, May 14, 1937. One of four children, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Albert and Marguerite Dooley Steck.

  • Mark S. Fesh

    Mark S. Fesh, 62, of Woodbury, formerly of Newtown and Roxbury, died suddenly September 1. He was born September 6, 1952, the son of Evelyn (Lofthouse) and Stephen Fesh. He graduated from Newtown High School, Class of 1971, where he was a member of the first undefeated football team.

    Al Francis Sampley, 92, of Newtown died August 27. He was born February 6, 1923, in Somerville, Mass., the son of Marjorie (Partridge) and Harry G. Sampley. A decorated war hero and well-respected antiques dealer for more than 50 years, Mr Sampley co-owned Almar Antiques of Wells, Maine, with his devoted wife, Mary Anne.
