Susan Schankman, 88, wife of the late Milton Schankman, longtime former resident of New York, died February 12 in Southbury. She was the only child born to Sylvia and Alex Maibaum, March 9, 1926, in New York City.
Michael T. Meehan, 84, of Newtown died February 14 in Bridgeport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Ann (McPherson) Meehan. He was born in Bridgeport, June 8, 1930, and was the son of the late Anna (Sheiner) and Michael Meehan.
David William Ostergren, 73, a resident of Newtown for many years, died peacefully February 15, with his family by his side. Born June 28, 1941, in Middletown, he was the son of the late Mary (Bentham) and Robert N. Ostergren, Sr.
Deborah A. Mulock, 65, of Newtown died January 31 at River Glen Care Center, Southbury, after a long illness. She was born in Hartford, September 6, 1949, and was a daughter of the late Norma (Dizer) and Ralph Grondin.
William E. Powers, 86, of Stratford, beloved husband for 61 years of Carole (Hagen) Powers, died February 6 in Bridgeport Hospital, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Before his retirement, he purchased and operated with his son, Larry, Sugar Hill Service Center in Newtown, for 19 years.
Josephine M. Lucas, 87, wife of Michael Lucas, Jr, of Sandy Hook, died February 11 at Maplewood of Danbury. She was a lifelong resident of Sandy Hook. She was born May 4, 1927, and was a daughter of the late Mary and Joseph Retz.
Richard Peter Gottmeier, 65, died February 5, at his residence in Sandy Hook. He was born September 21, 1949, in Youngstown, Ohio. He graduated from Liberty High School in Youngstown in 1967 and Ohio University in 1971 with a degree in marketing with a minor in history and attained a graduate degree through the US Army Command and General Staff College. He served in the Army Reserves from 1972 to 1999, obtaining the rank of lieutenant colonel. Lieutenant Colonel Gottmeier was a veteran of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
