Joy Cordia Scott, 80, of New Fairfield, died peacefully at her home on Candlewood Isle, with her family by her side, April 11. Born August 24, 1933, in Frederiksberg, Denmark, to Kaja Johanne Madsen (nee Larsen) and Mads Peder Madsen, she moved to New York City as a child.
Nancy S. Slocum, 83, of Pitt County, N.C., died April 3. She was born November 12, 1930, in New Jersey, to Helen and Sam Scott. Mrs Slocum, of Russian decent, moved to Newtown as a young girl, and graduated from Newtown High School in 1949.
Allan H. Springmeyer, 83, of Grace Meadows in Southbury, and formerly of Newtown and Bethlehem, died April 2 after a short illness. He was born in New York City to Dorothy (Bricker) and Harold Springmeyer.
John H. Russo, 76, of Brookfield, loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend, died peacefully April 4 at Westchester Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born in the Bronx, March 27, 1938, to Carmela and John L. Russo.
Miriam Taishoff Gerry, 91, of Trumbull, formerly of Norwalk and a former 20-year resident of Newtown, died suddenly but peacefully at her home, April 2. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Augusta Taishoff.
