Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company members are inviting the public for an evening of food, music, and bourbon. A new event, Bourbon Tasting & Food Pairing, will be introduced at Sandy Hook’s main station, on Saturday, October 24.
Tickets are $75 each, are only 80 will be sold.
Hors d’oeuvres will be served at 6:30 pm, with the bourbon tasting and meal pairing to follow at 7. Craft beer and wine will also be available for donation.

A proposal to more than double the size of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company’s fire substation at 249 Berkshire Road (Route 34) is scheduled for public discussion at a Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) public hearing slated for 7:30 pm on Thursday, August 6, at Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street.
The fire substation expansion proposal will be the subject of a site development plan review by the P&Z.

Police report that a four-vehicle accident occurred about 4 pm on March 11 at the four-way intersection of Berkshire Road (Route 34), Bennetts Bridge Road, and Grays Plain Road in Sandy Hook.
The collision resulted in three people being transported to the hospital for medical evaluation. Also, the incident created extensive travel delays during the evening rush period.
The driver of one vehicle involved in the accident needed to be extricated from the wreckage by Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company.

The officers and members of Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co. would like to thank our family, friends, fellow firefighters, residents of Newtown and out-of-town guests for helping to make our 27th annual LobsterFest on Friday and Saturday, June 6-7, a success. We served over 1,800 lobsters and 600 pounds of steak last weekend.
