• A Walk On A Moonlit Night — Anyone Scared?

    Newtown Forest Association hike leader Dr Aaron Coopersmith does not want to give away his costume yet, but is inviting guests to dress for Halloween and join him Tuesday, October 27, at 7 pm, at the Holcombe Hill Preserve, 65 Great Hill Road, for a Hunter’s Moon full moon hike. Flashlights are optional, but “come prepared,” he said in a recent e-mail. Halloween Costumes are also optional. Guardians must accompany children.

  • Family Fun Hike Is July 27

    Enjoy the view, take a short hike, fly a kite, or blow bubbles at the Nettleton Preserve at 15-25 Castle Hill Road. Join Newtown Forest Association (NFA) member and hike leader Aaron Coopersmith on Sunday, July 27, at noon for a Family Fun Hike at the NFA’s 23-acre property. Guests can bring a picnic, join the short guided hike, and enjoy “The most spectacular view in Newtown,” according to the NFA.

  • Guided Hike February 1 At Brunot Preserve

    Join Newtown Forest Association (NFA) member Aaron Coopersmith on a guided hike through the Brunot Preserve off Taunton Hill Road on Saturday, February 1, at noon.

    All are welcome on the two-mile walk through the wooded area. Wear warm clothing and footwear.

    From Route 302 turn at traffic light onto Taunton Hill Road. Continue approximately 0.8 mile and park at the NFA sign on the left.
