When Charles Dumais first arrived in the Newtown school district in January 2008, he was the fifth principal to take the helm at Newtown High School in four years.
“There were kids that were graduating that year for whom I was the fifth principal,” said Mr Dumais, while reflecting on his last six years spent at NHS.
Mr Dumais was chosen to be the new superintendent in Amity Regional School District #5 and is set to assume his new responsibilities on March 1.

To the Editor:
I am confused. If Charles Dumais is such a great principal that he got hired away by another school district as a superintendent, why wasn't he considered for our next superintendent of schools? Was he asked? If he was asked, did he refuse?
The way John Reed extolled his virtues, he would have ended our search. I wish someone could explain this whole thing. It doesn't make sense to me.

Newtown High School Principal Charles Dumais was chosen unanimously by the Amity Regional School District #5 as that district’s new superintendent of schools at a meeting of that district’s Board of Education Monday, January 13.
Just after the news started to spread, Mr Dumais posted an announcement called “Transition” to his blog about the appointment.
