  • Assistance Is In Place When Help Is Needed At SHS

    “We are the central place for support and resources for all community members, whether 12/14-related or not,” said Melissa Glaser. Ms Glaser is the community outreach liaison for the Newtown Recovery and Resiliency Team, funded through December 2015 by a Department of Justice grant.

  • Sandy Hook School Evacuated

    UPDATE (11:55 am): According to an SHES parent, parents have been notified of the evacuation, and buses will be departing from the school at noon. Some parents have reportedly opted to pick up their children, but all children will be dropped off at their home, following regular bus routes.

    According to a school district spokesperson, a “low to no level threat was received” this morning regarding Sandy Hook Elementary School.

  • Two Sessions Slated On SHS Project

    Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) members are scheduled to conduct a public hearing on the zoning aspects of the proposed new Sandy Hook Elementary School at 7:30 pm on Thursday, July 31, at Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street.

    The new school would replace the former Sandy Hook School at 12 Dickinson Drive, which the town demolished last year, following the December 2012 massacre there.
