    The Sandy Hook Sole Sisters (SHSS) & Friends were at work this week to “Tie the Town Pink,” hanging large pink bows throughout Sandy Hook Center and along Berkshire Road to launch breast cancer awareness month.

  • Sole Sisters Kick Off Training For Second Year’s Fundraiser

    The Sandy Hook Sole Sisters & Friends — a cancer awareness and fundraising team — kicked off its walk training season during Newtown’s annual Strutt Your Mutt in late May. Team members met at the town’s new Park and Park dog park where the event took place this year.

  • ‘Sole Sisters’ Walking For Cancer With New Friends

    Aimee Tabor is among the many Sandy Hook parents making new connections and friendships since 12/14. She is among a group of roughly a dozen women in town who have formed The Sandy Hook Sole Sisters team, combining efforts with New York residents to do the October two-day, 39-mile Avon Breast Cancer walk and fundraising event in New York City.

    The story began in May, when friendships with a group of mothers in Rye, N.Y., began with an invitation to a day of healing.

  • Fundraising Tag Sale, August 25 At NMS

    The Sandy Hook Sole Sisters are sponsoring a fundraising tag sale on Saturday, August 24, from 9 am to 3 pm. The event will support their participation in the 40-mile Avon Breast Cancer walk October 19-20 in New York City.

    There will be something for everyone, with great deals on a wide range of treasures all money raised going to breast cancer research, testing and support.

    The tag sale will be at Newtown Middle School, 11 Queen Street.
