  • P&Z Approves Hawleyville Resubdivision

    The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z), in its role as the town’s planning agency, has approved a resubdivision of land at 176 Mt Pleasant Road (Route 6) in Hawleyville.

    At an April 3 session, P&Z members unanimously approved an application from Toll CT III, Limited Partnership. P&Z members decided that the application is consistent with the town’s resubdivision regulations and also with the terms of BPO (Business Professional Office) zoning. The approval takes effect on April 14.

  • Newtown Woods Condo Complex Construction Continues In Hawleyville

    Toll Brothers, Inc, a major Pennsylvania-based homebuilder, is well into the construction of Newtown Woods, an age-restricted 178-unit condominium complex at a 50-acre site off Mt Pleasant Road in Hawleyville.

    The project represents the fourth time since 1998 that various firms have sought to develop the site with a large-scale, high-density housing project for people over age 55. All three previously proposed projects, two of which gained approvals from the town, failed to materialize.

  • P&Z Reviews Controversial Zoning Proposals For Hawleyville

    A development firm has withdrawn from Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) consideration its controversial proposal for a time extension on the use of temporary office space on Mt Pleasant Road (Route 6) in Hawleyville.

    However, still pending before the P&Z are three other controversial zoning proposals that have drawn fire from residents at Liberty at Newtown, an age-restricted, 96-unit condominium complex at 178 Mt Pleasant Road.

  • Liberty At Newtown Residents Oppose Toll Brothers’ Zoning Proposals

    This condominium apartment building now under construction is one of six such structures planned to be built at the Newtown Woods complex at 166 Mt Pleasant Road in Hawleyville. When completed, the complex would hold a total 178 dwellings for people over age 55.
