Big Truck Vs Flagpole
Police report an accident involving a tractor-trailer truck and the Main Street flagpole.
Police said that trucker John Henry, 47, of Rolling Meadows, Del., was driving a tractor-trailer truck westward on Church Hill Road at about 11:54 am on October 13 and then attempted to make a left turn onto southbound Main Street, but in doing so the truck’s trailer struck the flagpole.

While traveling east on Interstate 84 at about 6:35 pm on August 27, motorist Roger Mavrides, 59, of Canton, Mass., who was driving a 2010 BMW, struck the rear end of a 2005 Mercedes-Benz driven by Lauren Henson, 27, of Southbury, state police said. There were no injuries. Mavrides received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, state police said.

Police report that at about 11:29 pm on June 25, a youth under the age of 18 was driving an unspecified vehicle on Paugussett Road, near its intersection with Skytop Drive, when that vehicle went off the side of the road.
The youth was not injured, police said. After investigating, police arrested the youth on charges of driving under the influence by a person under age 21 and failure to drive to the right.

Police said they charged William Bruno, 45, of Newtown on a warrant at Danbury Superior Court on April 6, lodging four counts of violation of a protective order and two counts of criminal attempt to violate a protective order. All six charges are felonies
Bruno was arraigned in court that day and pleaded not guilty to all six charges. The six crimes allegedly occurred in May 2014.

Police report they arrested Franklin Reyes, 25, of Danbury on a warrant on the morning of March 8, lodging charges of second-degree identity theft and second-degree larceny.
The charges stem from a 2014 incident in which Reyes allegedly fraudulently used the personal information of a Newtown resident to obtain a store credit card at an area furniture store, police said. About $3,000 worth of goods were then fraudulently billed to the victim of the crime, police said.

State police report that at about 3:35 am on January 18, they spotted motorist Melissa Toon, 35, of New Haven driving on eastbound Interstate 84, near the Exit 9 interchange, but failing to stay in her travel lane, so they stopped her to investigate.
State police said they arrested Toon on charges of driving under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane, and two vehicular-document charges.

Sugar Street Crash
Police report that motorist Angela Evertez, 40, of 47 Poverty Hollow Road was driving a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV westward on Sugar Street, near its intersection with Head O’ Meadow Road, about 2:11 pm on January 3, as motorist Maura Curry, 57, of Redding was driving a 2012 Jeep Wrangler SUV eastward there.

State police report that at about 1:37 am on October 21, they stopped motorist Jose Torres, 24, of Danbury on westbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, to investigate.
State police said they charged Torres with driving under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane, and driving without a license.
After processing, state police released Torres on $500 bail for a November 6 court appearance.

Taunton Hill DUI
Motorist Connor Pineau, 21, of 47 Waterview Drive was driving a 2007 Jeep Wrangler SUV near 133 Taunton Hill Road about 10:15 pm on October 19, when the Jeep went off the road and struck a utility pole, resulting in utility lines dropping, police report.
Pineau was not injured. Police said they charged Pineau with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn. Pineau was released on $200 bail for a November 4 court appearance, police said.

Newtown Police responded to a Huntington Road location on October 1 at about 7:50 pm after receiving a report of a physical altercation. Upon arrival, police say they arrested a juvenile for disorderly conduct. The individual was subsequently released to a parent with a juvenile court date of October 20.
