  • Luminarias Fail To Set Holiday Spirits Aglow

    On behalf of the Ram Pasture Christmas Tree Lighting Committee, member Diana Johnson, on Monday, December 8, issued “sincere apologies to the whole town” for the abject failure of a new lighting option in the luminarias provided by the Chamber of Commerce and placed down Main Street, adjacent streets, and around Hawley Pond, a traditional prelude to the annual tree lighting.

    Representing Transition Newtown, Barbara Toomey handled the tender green leaves with care as she pressed young pepper and cabbage plants into the ground Thursday, June 20. She and Parks and Recreation Director Amy Mangold had help from Transition Newtown member Zachary Marmo, who graduated early from Newtown High School in December and will soon attend college. He added a cluster of tomato plants to row 41 — the Parks and Recreation/Transition team’s row.
