  • Grammy Nominee Moock To Headline July 29 Summer Jam Concert

    Alastair Moock, a 2014 Grammy nominee, will be performing at Dickinson Park on Tuesday, July 29, headlining the penultimate performance of this year’s Summer Jam Concert Series.

    Summer Jam concerts are held Tuesdays at 12:30 pm in the bandshell at Dickinson Park, 50 Elm Drive. Picnic lunches and blankets are encouraged.

  • Change Of Venue For Tuesday’s Summer Jam Concert

    The second annual Summer Jam Concert Series, a weekly offering of free concerts for children and families that opened on June 24, “has been phenomenal” so far, according to volunteer coordinator Erin Masotta.

    “The turnout this year has far exceeded last year’s and we hope to keep the attendance high for the next several weeks,” she said Monday, July 14.

  • Summer Jam Concert Series Returns June 24

    The second annual Claris Construction Inc Summer Jam Concert Series for the children of Newtown will open inext week.

    The series will begin Tuesday, June 24, with Vanessa Trien and The Jumping Monkeys returning from Boston to kick off the series.  Returning favorites from last year will also include Amy Rogell on July 15, and Zak Morgan, who will again be traveling from Ohio for the final concert, scheduled to take place on August 5.

    A program of Newtown Parks & Recreation, admission is free. 

  • Two More Opportunities To Catch Inaugural Summer Jam Concerts

    Master teaching artist Bob Bloom, who leads interactive programs with an array of drums and world percussion instruments, was the musical guest for the July 24 Summer Jam Concert at Dickinson Park. Shows are suitable for all ages, and Mr Bloom continued the new program’s custom of audience participation. The next concert in the series will be Wednesday, July 31, featuring Robert The Guitar Guy. The season finalé will be August 7, with Zak Morgan. Concerts begin at 12:30 at Dickinson Park, 50 Elm Drive, and are free of charge.

  • Summer Jam Brings Music To Children

    Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys, a band based out of Boston, opened the new Summer Jam Concert Series at Dickinson Park on Wednesday afternoon. From left are bass player Paul Kochanski, Vanessa Trien on vocals and guitar, and Julie Rama Winslow, also on vocals and guitar. The free outdoor concert series hosted by Newtown Parks & Recreation will continue offering weekly concerts for families and children ages 10 and under until August 7.
