  • NMS Seventh Graders Visit Booth Library

    Between Tuesday, September 9, and Wednesday, September 10, seventh grade students in three clusters had the opportunity to visit C.H. Booth Library.

    According to Language Arts teacher Kristin Norden, the students left from Newtown Middle School to visit the library by 7:30 each day, and workshops centered around having the students familiarize themselves with using the library’s resources, like research tools, downloading eBooks, and applying for interlibrary loans.

  • New Library Director Settling Into Her Role

    Seated at the desk in the Library Director’s office — a space she is not yet comfortable calling her own — Brenda McKinley moves aside a small desktop plaque inscribed with a Robert Browning quote: “The best is yet to be.” The gift from the Board of Trustees of the C.H. Booth Library speaks to the confidence placed in the woman chosen as the newest leader of the local library.

    Photo bombs continue to be a very popular trend, and this week I spotted one of my own doing just that. When one of our Bee photographers was out collecting Bee’s Buck photos last week, she didn’t realize that while she was trying to sneakily take a photo for this week’s challenge photo, the photographer herself was also being watched.

  • New Director Appointed To Lead Cyrenius H. Booth Library

    Brenda J. McKinley of Newtown was appointed as the next director of the C.H. Booth Library in Newtown, Wednesday, June 18, following a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees at a special meeting held Tuesday evening, June 17. Ms McKinley’s appointment, effective July 1, was announced to the staff and Acting Director Beryl Harrison, Wednesday morning, by Board of Trustees President Martha Robilotti.
