    While organizers of the tenth Relay For Life of Newtown are in their home stretch this week, making final preparations for their 12-hour event taking place May 31–June 1 at Newtown High School, organizers of a similar event are beginning to ramp up their annual efforts.

    The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) offers Team In Training (TNT), an endurance sports program for all ability levels. Participating in running, walking, cycling, triathlon and hiking events benefit life saving cancer research and honor the patient heroes of LLS. Whether one is planning to lace up their sneakers for the first time since high school, or looking to set a personal best, LLS Team In Training has the training plan and support team to get you there.

  • LLS Light The Night Walks An Ongoing Mission For Local Woman

    The first Light The Night for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in Newtown took place at Newtown High School in the fall of 2009, organized by Sandy Hook Resident Ginny Chion with the help of Newtown High School Athletic Director Gregg Simon.

  • Bowling For LLS, August 17

    NEW MILFORD — Katherine James, team captain for the Dear Jack team registered for the 2013 Newtown Light the Night Walk, has organized an event to raise money for her team. Join in unlimited games of bowling at Lore’s Lanes, 145D Danbury Road in New Milford, on August 17, from 4:30 to 7 pm.

  • Shop ‘Til You Drop For LLS

    C.H. Booth Library will host a special fundraiser for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society this weekend.

    On Saturday, July 20, from 3 to 7 pm, the lower community room at the library will be home to a vendor fair. Representatives from Pampered Chef, Partylite, lia sophia, Dove Chocolate, Velata Fondue, 31 and Tastefully Simple will all take part. All vendors will have raffle items and take home auction items in addition to items available for purchase.

  • Family Fun Day Celebration For Community Cancer Survivors & Families

    DANBURY — On Saturday, June 29, the Connecticut Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Danbury Moose Lodge No. 1373 will host the second annual Family Fun Day Celebration for Community Cancer Survivors and their families.

    The event will take place at the Danbury Moose Family Center, 75 Boulevard Drive, Danbury.

    There will be carnival themed games, food, live entertainment, children’s activities, swimming and raffles. Over 250 guests and volunteers are expected for the special event.
