    On Friday, July 19, survivors of the Aurora theater massacre, families of victims, several Newtown families, gun violence prevention advocates, and local faith leaders will gather in Aurora, Colorado, to mark the one-year anniversary of the mass shooting at the Century 16 movie theater that killed 12 people and injured another 70. They will join together in a day of remembrance and a call to action, urging America’s leaders to take meaningful action to reduce gun violence nationwide.

    A Mayors Against Illegal Guns rally for increased gun control drew several hundred people to the plaza in front of Edmond Town Hall on Friday morning. Organizers and attendees stopped for a moment of silence at 9:30, listening to the church bells of Trinity Episcopal Church and Newtown Congregational Church during the press conference.

  • June 13 Event In Washington, DC, To Commemorate 12/14

    Newtown Action Alliance, a local grassroots organization committed to reducing gun violence, is sponsoring an all-day event in Washington, D.C., Thursday, June 13, to demand that Congress vote on and pass comprehensive background checks. The events will commemorate the six-month anniversary of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
