  • Newtown Labor Day Parade: ‘Celebrating The Fine Art Of Newtown’

    Thousands of people will line the streets in the center of Newtown come Monday, September 7, eagerly awaiting the first notes of the Newtown High School Marching Band that mark the start of the annual Labor Day Parade. The stream of floats, bands, dancers, musicians, clubs, scouts, fire trucks, and tractors that follow the band flows down Main Street and onto Glover Avenue to the grandstand on Queen Street with seemingly little effort.

    REDDING — The  wonder and beauty of Connecticut’s New Pond Farm — from distant, rolling hills to closer barnyard scenes — spring to life in the imagination of some 50 regional artists whose will be included in New Pond Farm’s fourth invitational art show, “From Farm to Canvas,” June 1-16. In addition to the works being hung on the gallery walls, visitors will be able to browse through portfolios of agrarian and nature-themed artwork.
