  • A Successful Silver Anniversary Breakfast Fundraiser In Support Of Regional Hospice And Home Care

Well over 200 people attended the 25th Annual Newtown Chapter Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut Breakfast Fundraiser, Wednesday morning, June 11, at the Waterview in Monroe. Filling 39 tables hosted by individuals, clubs, businesses, and organizations, the morning started with a time for socializing.

  • Breakfast Fundraiser To Feature Pediatric Hospice Nurse

The keynote speaker at the 25th annual Newtown Chapter Hospice Breakfast Fundraiser, Wednesday, June 11, will be Chris Mastropietro, RN, certified hospice and palliative nurse. Ms Mastropietro is the case manager for the Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut for perinatal and pediatric hospice patients.

A labor and delivery nurse for 11 years, Ms Mastropietro found that she was the nurse people would call when there was a fetal death. “So I left labor and delivery, and came to Hospice, ten years ago,” she said.

  • The Top of the Mountain

June is National Adopt A Cat month, and I like #1 on the American Humane Society website: If you’re thinking about adopting a cat, consider taking home two.

If adopting a cat is out of the question, how about going to look at some big cats? Saturday, June 15, is Newtown Day at the Beardsley Zoo, 1875 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport. Show your Newtown identification, and entry to the zoo is just $5, 10 am to 4 pm. Seems like it could be at grrr-eat outing.
