    Occupation: I am the director of bands at Newtown High School. I’ve been here since 2002.

    Family: My wife is Linda, and we have two children. Hannah is 21, and she is going to school at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, majoring in fashion design. Brianna is living in the City. She’s 25 and she’s writing, acting, singing, and making her way through the audition circuit.

  • Newtown High School ‘Time To Taco ‘Bout Jazz’ Event Well Attended

    While students performed music on the stage at Newtown High School during the evening of Saturday, June 7, attendees at the “Time To Taco ‘Bout Jazz” event ate dinner or listened.

    The event was hosted by and held as a fundraiser for the NHS Gold Jazz Band. It helped raise money to cover the cost of NHS Gold Jazz band members recording a professional CD.

    Food from Mexicali Rose was served during the night, and $15 was charged at the door, children 5 and under cost $5 to attend.

  • NHS Gold Jazz Band Making ‘Time To Taco ‘Bout Jazz,’ Saturday

    As a fundraiser for the group to create a professionally recorded CD, the Newtown High School Gold Jazz Band is set to host “Time To Talk ‘Bout Jazz” on Saturday, June 7. The evening of jazz and Mexican food will run from 6 to 9 pm, in the cafetorium of Newtown High School.

    Adult tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door; children’s tickets, for ages 5 and under, are $5. To purchase tickets in advance, NHS Band Director Kurt Eckhardt said students can speak at school.

  • Musicians Premiere Memorial Composition ‘Glorificare’

    After many rehearsals, Newtown High School’s wind ensemble, orchestra, and choruses took the stage Wednesday, May 22, to perform the world premiere of Samuel R. Hazo’s Glorificare, under the guidance of the composer.

  • NHS Musicians And Singers To Perform World Premiere Of ‘Glorificare’

    The Newtown High School wind ensemble, orchestra, and choruses will perform the world premiere of Samuel R. Hazo’s Glorificare on Wednesday, May 22, at 7 pm, for all residents who wish to attend. The performance will be in the auditorium at Newtown High School, 12 Berkshire Road.
