  • Something To Howl About

    Starting this Saturday morning, four-legged family members can join the bipeds for some unleashed exercise at the park. At 11 am, May 3, Newtown will celebrate the grand opening of the Park & Bark, a two-acre field on Old Farm Road at the Fairfield Hills Campus that has been transformed over the past year to become the town’s first dog park.

  • Ribbon Cutting, Grand Opening Planned: Off-Leash Dog Park To Open May 3

    May 3 will bring good news for dog lovers.

    On that day at 11 am, Newtown’s off-leash dog park will celebrate its grand opening and ribbon cutting at the recently constructed facility on Old Farm Road below the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard facility. The park will not be open to the public until then.

    Based on the feedback she has heard from the public, Assistant Director of Recreation RoseAnn Reggiano said, “People can’t wait. Cannot wait.”

  • Canine Costume Party, Saturday At Fairfield Hills

    “Howl-o-ween,” a canine costume party to benefit Friends of Newtown Park and Bark, will be held Saturday October 26, from 1 to 3 pm. It will be on the campus of Fairfield Hills, near the intersection of Keating Farms Avenue and Simpson Street.

    Prizes will be awarded for most original costume, scariest costume, funniest costume, dog and owner look-alike, and best in show.

  • Strutt Your Mutt, Saturday

    Pack up your pooch and head over to Fairfield Hills on Saturday, May 18, for to Newtown’s 4th annual Strutt Your Mutt.

    This fun and healthy family event sponsored by the Friends of Newtown Park and Bark and Newtown Parks & Recreation will take place from 11 am until 3 pm, on Simpson Street (near the municipal center). Dogs must be leashed at all times.
