Liberia

  • The Top of the Mountain

I have been worrying my whiskers off over the news coming out of Liberia. I hope you join me in sending silent purrs and good thoughts toward our friends outside of Monrovia. The building project for the New Life Christian Academy, funded by Reed Intermediate School Pushcart Warriors and an anonymous West Coast couple, is still suspended, and all schools are closed for the time being due to the Ebola outbreak.

  • Ebola Outbreak Affecting Newtown Connections In Liberia

Progress on building a school in Liberia that was funded by an anonymous couple on the West Coast and Reed Intermediate School’s Pushcart Warriors has been halted, due to the spread of Ebola.

  • The Reed School Pushcarts Roll On And On

Once a pushcart gets rolling, you never know where it is going to stop. That may be the essential lesson of the Reed Intermediate School’s Pushcart Day. The end-of-the-school-year event has raised thousands of dollars over the years for causes ranging from autism research to the Women’s Center in Danbury. In the past two years, however, the impact of this annual fundraising effort has been amplified and redirected to children in West Africa where their charitable giving is not just lending a helping hand but transforming lives.

  • Reed's Pushcart Warriors Fund A School In Liberia

Thanks to the past two Reed Intermediate School sixth grade classes, a school in Paynesville, a suburb of Monrovia, in Liberia, has a new well, and a new school building is being constructed.
