Summer days may be long, but there is no shortage of activities in and near Newtown, from hiking to biking to horseback riding to swimming. A few Newtowners offered their own recommendations for summer outings.
Fox Ridge Farm boasts many activities for equestrians of all levels. Sitting on 25 acres, Pat Gregory and Fox Ridge Farm have been located on Aunt Park Lane for 14 years. All Ms Gregory asks is that the young riders come equipped with a well-fitting, approved helmet, long pants, and a pair of boots with a one-inch heel.

A happy Easter Bunny led a group of about 200 parents and children across a snowy field at Dickinson Park on Saturday, March 28, to the new playground, known as FunSpace II, where about 4,000 Easter eggs were scattered on the ground at the town’s annual Spring Egg Hunt.

Representatives of The Newtown Alumni Fund (NAF) visited the Newtown Parks & Recreation office on Friday, December 5, where they delivered a $1,000 donation for the department’s Campership Fund. The donation will help pay camp fees for children next summer.

The 4th annual Strutt Your Mutt event will be Saturday, May 18, from 11 am to 4 pm, at Fairfield Hills.
Organizers are encouraging all dog owners to “grab the leash and join us.” The entry fee is $5 per dog, cash only.
Guests can see demonstrations in dog agility and obedience, and enjoy vendors’ tables.
