Retail (For) Therapy, a vendor fair and silent auction event, will be offered at Julie Allen Bridals on Wednesday, November 5, from 6:30 to 9 pm. The event will serve as a fundraiser for the Sandy Hook Elementary Fund, organized in the wake of 12/14 by Newtown Lions Club to help cover the counseling costs of Sandy Hook School students, their immediate families, SHES faculty, and first responders.

“You know how some people like to go shopping and call it their therapy? This is a shopping event that will be helping others get therapy,” said Lauren Morehouse, describing an event she is helping to organize. After Julie Allen Bridals marketing director and co-manager Lauren Morehouse spent a week, roughly eight hours in total, sorting through dresses, she had gathered 415 to be donated to the Believe in Me Empowerment Corporation’s Prom Dress/Formal Giveaway.

The “Plunge For Sandy Hook” event held at Lake Compounce in Bristol on December 8 raised more than $26,000, surpassing its original $10,000 goal, for the My Sandy Hook Family Fund.
At least two Newtown residents took the plunge into the cold water last weekend: Lauren Morehouse and Christina Wolf. The two women, who have been friends since attending second grade at Hawley Elementary School, were on a team of about 20 people, including family members of some of the victims at Sandy Hook School on 12/14.
