    Evading Responsibility

    Police report that while on patrol in Dodgingtown about 2:35 am on January 20, they spotted a utility pole near 3 Hattertown Road that had been struck by a vehicle and had fallen down, bringing down with it some utility lines.

    Reckless Driving

    After learning that Newtown Police held a warrant for his arrest, Brian Riguzzi, 39, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., turned himself over to police at the police station about 12:30 pm on January 3 and was charged with reckless driving and with failure to drive to the right in connection with an auto accident that occurred on September 20, police said.

    Multiple Charges

    Police report a violent incident at a home on Eden Hill Road near the Easton town line on the night of December 11.

    Police said that Abner Soares, 25, of Danbury, while armed with a baseball bat, went to the home of his ex-girlfriend and then smashed in a window there, gained entrance to the house and then smashed apart a glass coffee table within.

    Hattertown Road

    A two-vehicle accident on Hattertown Road, near its intersection with Boggs Hill Road, resulted in both drivers being charged with multiple offenses following the incident that occurred about 1:39 am on November 22, police said.

    Mt Pleasant DUI

    Police report that at about 10:30 pm on November 13, they stopped motorist Kathryn Casas, 37, of Danbury for making a motor vehicle violation on Mt Pleasant Road, near its intersection with Susan Lane.

    After investigating, police charged Casas with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane.

    Following processing, police released Casas on $1,000 bail for a November 26 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.

    Gun In Vehicle

    State police report that while traveling in heavy traffic near an accident scene on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, at about 8:45 am on November 7, a trucker spotted a man in a vehicle who was holding and loading a handgun while driving.

    Also, there was an 8-year-old girl as a front-seat passenger in that vehicle, state police said.

    I-84 DUI

    State police report that at about 1:37 am on October 21, they stopped motorist Jose Torres, 24, of Danbury on westbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, to investigate.

    State police said they charged Torres with driving under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane, and driving without a license.

    After processing, state police released Torres on $500 bail for a November 6 court appearance.

     

  • Police Reports, October 10-22, 2014

    Taunton Hill DUI

    Motorist Connor Pineau, 21, of 47 Waterview Drive was driving a 2007 Jeep Wrangler SUV near 133 Taunton Hill Road about 10:15 pm on October 19, when the Jeep went off the road and struck a utility pole, resulting in utility lines dropping, police report.

    Pineau was not injured. Police said they charged Pineau with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn. Pineau was released on $200 bail for a November 4 court appearance, police said.

    Multiple Charges

    Police report that at about 9 am on October 5, they responded to a gas station at 47 Church Hill Road where they learned that a fuel theft had occurred in which a man had put approximately $30 worth of fuel into a 1994 Mack truck without paying for that fuel.

    False ID

    While conducting surveillance of town liquor stores, local officers observed Jake Thomas Behan, 19, arriving at the Rooster Wine & Liquor store at 113 South Main Street operating a vehicle without a front marker plate. They then observed Behan exiting the store with a 12-pack of beer and stopped him to investigate.
