  • Silent Auction, Excitement Building For Lions Club Fundraiser

Retail (For) Therapy, a vendor fair and silent auction event, will be offered at Julie Allen Bridals on Wednesday, November 5, from 6:30 to 9 pm. The event will serve as a fundraiser for the Sandy Hook Elementary Fund, organized in the wake of 12/14 by Newtown Lions Club to help cover the counseling costs of Sandy Hook School students, their immediate families, SHES faculty, and first responders.

  • Tee Time Approaching For Second Annual Fore Sandy Hook Golf Classic

DANBURY — The Newtown Lions Club and Western Connecticut State University’s Sigma Chi Alumni Association will co-host the second annual Fore Sandy Hook Golf Classic on Monday, June 30, at Richter Park in Danbury. Registration and lunch will begin at noon; tee time is 1:30 pm.

  • Nutmeg Kart Club Donation Will Keep Lions Club Fund Operating

The family room of Bob Schmidt’s home quickly filled with nearly 250 toys on the morning of Saturday, December 7, but the donation had very little to do with Christmas.

  • Cabaret Night Planned At The Library, Fundraiser For Lions Club 12/14 Recovery Fund

Newtown’s own Solid Gold Times Two (Bob and Josie Schmidt) will headline a special Cabaret Night at C.H. Booth Library being planned for Friday, October 11. Doors will open at 6 pm, and the show will begin at 7.

Requested donation is $10 per person, payable at the door, with proceeds to benefit Newtown Lions Foundation Sandy Hook Elementary Fund (NLC-SHEF). The fund has already distributed more than $160,000 for counseling services for first responders, and Sandy Hook Elementary School families and staff members.

  • Time To Start Thinking About The Duck Race

Newtown Lions have begun selling tickets around Newtown for their 13th annual Great Pootatuck Duck Race, which will take place in Sandy Hook Center on Saturday, May 25.

Proceeds from this year’s race will benefit the Newtown Lions Sandy Hook Elementary Fund (to help pay for counseling for first responders and family members of the Sandy Hook School children and faculty), and other Lions Club charities.
