  • Dinner, Reception & Comedy Show To Benefit Adath Israel And Parents Circle Families Forum

    On Saturday, April 26, a dinner, reception, and comedy night will be held at Congregation Adath Israel, 115 Huntingtown Road. This evening will be a joint benefit for the Parents Circle Families Forum (for Israeli-Palestinian Peace) and Adath Israel.

    The event, to start at 8 pm, will include Rabbi Shaul Praver speaking for the Congregation and Bassam Aramin and Robi Damelin speaking for the Parents Circle. In addition, the evening will include nationally known entertainers Moody McCarthy, Andy Pitz, and Johnny Lampert.

  • Renowned Gospel Choir To Perform At Newtown Synagogue To Honor MLK, Jr

    In recognition of Martin Luther King Day, Congregation Adath Israel will host a renowned Hartford gospel choir in the synagogue sanctuary. The performance will begin at 7:30 pm Friday, January 17.

    Voices LLC of Hartford will perform at 115 Huntingtown Road to honor the legacy of the Reverend Dr Martin Luther King Jr. The entire community is invited.

    The choir will take the stage at approximately 8 pm, following a traditional Hebrew prayers service that will begin at 7:30.

  • Rabbi Awarded Samaritan Peace Medal

    On Sunday, November 24, Rabbi Shaul Praver was awarded the Samaritan Peace Medal. This award was presented to Rabbi Praver, of Congregation Adath Israel, by Samaritan Chancellor Benyamim Tsedaka, editor of AB — The Samaritan News and tireless world advocate of the Samaritan people and their rich historical traditions.

  • Support Center, Synagogue Open To Those Retraumatized By Boston Incident

    In response to the April 15 bombing incident in Boston, the Town of Newtown established a temporary support center at Cyrenius Booth Library, 25 Main Street. That support center is further extending its hours of operation through the weekend for community members to come for support, guidance, or simply to be with one another, according to Health District Director Donna Culbert.

    The library support center will be open Friday, April 19, from 11 am to 5 pm, as well as Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 pm.
