With below zero wind chills expected tonight, Governor Dannel P. Malloy Malloy is reactivating the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol through tomorrow morning.
The protocol activates a network of procedures to ensure that the most vulnerable receive shelter from cold temperatures. Under the protocol, relevant state agencies will deploy teams that specialize in working with homeless people to locate those at risk and encourage them to take shelter.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy has decided that state office buildings will close on Wednesday, November 26, at 12:30 pm due to the anticipated snowstorm that is expected to significantly impact the state. Nonessential state employees will be dismissed at that time.

An approaching winter storm is expected to impact the tri-state region during the next few days.
A very complex weather pattern will continue to affect the southern US through Thursday, according to the weather service. A mixture of winter weather hazards, including heavy snow and freezing rain will continue across the Southeast Wednesday before moving up the Eastern Seaboard, where it will affect parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast into Friday.

Sean and Isabelle Caron were enjoying the fresh snow that arrived in Newtown before daybreak Monday, sledding in their front yard. A storm that was to bring a few inches of snow to the region had dropped up to six inches in different areas of town by late afternoon. More snow is forecast for Tuesday night.

Residents hoping to purchase Christmas trees, do holiday shopping, run errands, attend 12/14 services, or anything away from their homes are being encouraged by Governor Dannel P. Malloy to get all of their work done as early as possible on Saturday.
Gov Malloy urged residents n Friday, December 13, to avoid travel during the first significant snowstorm of the season. The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Watches for most of the state from Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning.

This morning's heavy rain arrives with some warnings and advisories from the National Weather Service.
NWS in Upton, N.Y., issued a Flash Flood Warning at 5:41 am this morning for Fairfield County. The warning also includes western New Haven County, and Westchester and Rockland counties in New York.
The warning will remain in effect until 9:30 am.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in New York has issued a Red Flag Warning for southern Connecticut, including Fairfield County, and Long Island from 10 am to 6 pm Sunday. The weather service has also issued a Wind Advisory for the same area for Sunday from 6 am to 6 pm.
With the Red Flag Warning, sustained wind speeds will frequently be 25-30 mph in combination with relative humidity values around 25%.
