  • Town & Country Garden Club Celebrating Golden Anniversary With Standard Flower Show

    Yellow and white roses, Alstromeria and a nearly hidden ribbon speckled with gold highlight a class-winning floral design by Peggy Townsend, on view at C.H. Booth Library only until 4 pm Saturday, June 13. The designed arrangement is part of a special presentation by The Town & Country Garden Club of Newtown, a standard flower show celebrating the club’s 50th anniversary.

  • Garden Club Flower Show To Celebrate 50 Years

    The Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown will present “JOY! 50 Years of Celebrations,” a standard flower show in celebration of the club’s golden anniversary, which occurred in 2014.

    The show will be presented at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown, on Saturday and Sunday, June 12-13. Free and open to the public, the show will be on view Friday from 1 to 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am until 4 pm. 

  • ‘Spring Wildflowers’ Program Planned

    On Wednesday, May 13, the Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown will present a program by Margery Winters called, “Spring Wildflowers.”

    The program will begin at 7 pm at Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.

    Guests will learn about the myriad varieties of spring wildflowers in Connecticut as well as why them bloom during this time of the year, where to find them, how they got their names, and what makes them so special.

  • A Subject Near And Dear To The Hearts Of Gardeners Everywhere

    On Wednesday, April 8, The Town and Country Garden Club will host a program by club member Marilynn Klepfer on composting, a subject near and dear to the hearts of gardeners. The program will be held at Newtown Senior Center, within the multi-purpose building at 14 Riverside Road. It will begin at 7 pm and is open to the public, free of charge.

  • ‘The Unexpected Houseplant’ Next Program For Garden Club

    The Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown is having Tovah Martin present a program titled “The Unexpected Houseplant” at 7 pm at Newtown Senior Center on Wednesday, February 12.

    Ms Martin is the author of many gardening books and is a freelance writer whose articles have appeared in many publications throughout the country.  She has also appeared on various television shows including Martha Stewart’s.

  • Designing With Pressed Flowers

    On Wednesday, April 10, the Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown will host a program titled “Designing with Pressed Flowers.” The program will be at Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.
