  • Bronx Woman Charged With Fraud, Pleads Not Guilty In Post-12/14 Scam

    New York City prosecutors say a woman has been charged with fraud for posing as the aunt of a Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victim and soliciting donations.

    The Associated Press reported that Nouel Alba was indicted May 14 on identity theft and fraud charges in the Bronx. Prosecutors say she pretended to be the aunt of 6-year-old victim Noah Ponzer.

  • Child Pornographer Sentenced to 20-Year Federal Prison Term

    NEW HAVEN – David Csanadi, 36, of Newtown, was sentenced on Tuesday, March 19, by US District Judge Janet Bond Arterton to 20 years of imprisonment, followed by 15 years of supervised release, for producing child pornography.

    According to court documents and statements made in court, in 2006 and 2007, Csanadi sexually abused three female children, videotaped that abuse, and then maintained the tapes at his home in Newtown.

  • Woman Pleads Not Guilty In Sandy Hook School Fraud Case

    BRIDGEPORT — A Bronx, N.Y., woman on January 17 pleaded not guilty in US District Court to a criminal charge of lying to FBI agents in connection with their investigation into a fraudulent fundraising scheme related to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting tragedy in Newtown.

    Nouel Alba, 37, pleaded not guilty to one count of making false statements to federal agents, an offense that carries a maximum prison term of five years and a fine of up to $250,000. Alba is represented by a public defender.

    HARTFORD — Bronx, N.Y., resident Nouel Alba, 37, was arrested on December 27, on a federal criminal complaint charging her with lying to FBI agents in connection with their investigation into a fraudulent fundraising scheme related to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting tragedy, according to a federal spokesman.
