  • Realtors Hosting Benefit For Dog Pound

Building on a National Association of Realtors strategic plan, calling for local boards to invest in their communities, the Newtown Board of Realtors will host “Donation Day at the Pound.”

“We are a town of dog lovers,” said Barbara Frey, president of the Newtown Board of Realtors. “We wanted to do a big food pantry drive, but our state legislators were already doing a big campaign. So we thought, why not do something for our dog pound?” Ms Frey said.

  • NBA Pro To Share Recovery Experience

Newtown High School, Newtown Parent Connection, Newtown Prevention Council, and the Newtown Board of Realtors invite the public to hear former NBA player Chris Herren speak about his struggle with substance abuse and his road to recovery on Thursday, April 7, at 7 pm. This presentation is intended for parents and their children (11 years and older), friends and neighbors, and will be held at Newtown High School, 12 Berkshire Road.

  • Realtors See Steady Improvement In Local Market

Newtown Board of Realtors president Barbara Frey is pleased with the direction the housing market in Newtown is headed this year. “There’s a real positive feeling in the air,” she said. Despite year-to-date sales slightly off from this time one year ago (60 homes sold since January 2015 versus 66 that period in 2014), it is an “extremely active market right now. Agents tell me they are busy morning to night,” Ms Frey said. Fifty-two homes have recently gone under deposit. There are an additional 23 pending sales, as of March 25.

  • Newtown Real Estate Forecast: Increasingly Brighter

Kathy Suhoza was installed as the president of the Newtown Board of Realtors in January, a task she called “daunting.” Although one of the top selling realtors for eight of the ten years she has worked as a real estate professional with Coldwell Banker, and confident of her ability to lead local realtors out of a sluggish period, the Newtown resident was unsure what kind of situation she was stepping into, following 12/14.

  • Local Realtors Seek Input From Residents

At a planning meeting March 11 for the 29th annual Connecticut Realtors Association, Inc “Realtors at the Capitol” event, state representative Dan Carter asked that realtors this year bring to legislators concerns of local people surrounding not only housing issues, but other issues as well, said Newtown Board of Realtors president Kathy Suhoza of Coldwell Banker in Newtown.
