A nonprofit group is resuming its fundraising drive to collect money that would be used to build a new police station for the 45-member town police department.
Town police have long sought new quarters to replace their existing facilities at 3 Main Street in the building known as Town Hall South.

The Newtown Emergency Communications Center’s (NECC) ability to manage emergency calls for service has been enhanced with its use of a large flat-panel monitor that now hangs on the center’s eastern wall.
NECC is located within Town Hall South, at 3 Main Street. The Center handles all local police, fire, and ambulance calls. It is the answering point for local Emergency 911 calls.

The Police Commission has formed a subcommittee to pursue creating a new police station to better meet the space needs of the 45-member police department.

Pinball table manufacturer Stern Pinball, Inc. is partnering with the Sandy Hook Arcade Center to host a video game tournament, the company announced on March 13.
The Sandy Hook Challenge Tournament is open to children and teenagers. It will be held at Sandy Hook Arcade Center, the non-profit arcade within Sand Hill Plaza, 228 South Main Street. The tournament will be held Saturday, March 16, with qualifying rounds beginning at 4 pm. The final round will begin at 6:30, and winners will be awarded trophies provided by Sandy Hook Arcade Center at 7.
