  • Swim Squad Beats Bunnell Of Stratford, Improves To 8-1

    Newtown High School’s girls’ swimming and diving team topped visiting Bunnell of Stratford, 96-74 on October 14. The Nighthawks cruised to first-place finishes early on in the meet before coasting to the triumph. Newtown improved to 8-1.

    The Nighthawks jumped to the early lead as the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Meg Olszewski, Annika Fagerholm, Megan McDonald, and Amy Martinelli finished first in a time of 2:06.82.

  • More Records For Swim And Dive Team

    Newtown High School’s girls’ swimming and diving team continues to perform at a high level and break records. The Nighthawks set two pool records in relay events in a September 19 win over Weston, and diver Kari Djonne broke both her own team record and the pool mark during a 96-82 win over visiting New Fairfield on September 30.

  • Swimmers Beat Stratford, Edged By Lauralton Hall

    Newtown High School’s girls’ swimming and diving team defeated host Stratford 85-71 on October 4, then lost 102-84 to visiting Lauralton Hall of Milford on October 8 in the final home meet of the campaign.

    Despite falling short against Lauralton, the Nighthawks impressed Coach Zach Gauvin with a competitive meet highlighted by strong swims.

  • Swimmers Close Out Regular Slate With Win

    Newtown High School’s boys’ swimming and diving team capped off the regular season with a 94-81 win over Joel Barlow of Redding on February 15.

    NHS finished the season with a 7-3 record.
