  • The Top of the Mountain

    Well-known gardener and author Sydney Eddison got a mention in the Thursday, September 12, Home section of The New York Times for a 1989 plant trade with home and interior designer Peter Wooster. Mr Wooster’s Roxbury gardens were the focus of the article, and in one of his gardens, apparently, are lilies from Ms Eddison’s garden. Her gardens received cuttings of Mr Wooster’s brugmansia in that long-ago exchange.

  • NHS Club Hosts First Day Of Kindness

    Residents of all ages were welcomed on Saturday, September 14, inside Newtown High School’s cafetorium for the NHS Kindness Club’s Day of Kindness.

    The event, organized by NHS Kindness Club advisor Lisa Sheridan, gathered Stars of Hope, Newtown Kindness, Ben’s Bells Newtown, Hearts of Hope Newtown, Actively Caring For People, and comfort dogs together to offer kindness-fostering activities.

  • Stars of Hope Arrive in Newtown

    The utility poles in Newtown have always done extra duty as sign posts for tag sales and special events. And in recent years, they have supported an array of American flags along Main Street in the warmer months. But last weekend, the poles took on some extraordinary and encouraging adornments.
