Continuing its monthly series of one free movie, Edmond Town Hall will screen Captain America: The Winter Soldier on Saturday, July 12, at 7:20 pm. Tickets are free courtesy of Ingersoll Auto of Danbury.
The film starring Chris Evens, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Redford, and Anthony Mackie, et al, is being featured daily, July 11–16, at the theater within the historic building at 45 Main Street.

A Giving Tree stands in the Edmond Town Hall lobby this year. Promoting the tree that is intended to benefit community members in need, the Edmond Town Hall Board of Managers and the Newtown Prevention Council staff promoted the tree earlier this week. The council is the inaugural Giving Tree sponsor.

After moving to Newtown 20 years ago, we were delighted to discover the Friends of Music concerts at Edmond Town Hall. World-class classical music, right here on Main Street, and very affordable. This Sunday afternoon at 3, come enjoy the performance of Trio Con Brio Copenhagen, along with Ettore Causa, who is on the faculty of the Yale School of Music.

A Mayors Against Illegal Guns rally for increased gun control drew several hundred people to the plaza in front of Edmond Town Hall on Friday morning. Organizers and attendees stopped for a moment of silence at 9:30, listening to the church bells of Trinity Episcopal Church and Newtown Congregational Church during the press conference.

The Al Hedaya Islamic Center in Newtown will host its first conference event on Sunday, May 12. The program, “Tragedy, Trials & Tribulations: The Grace in Calamities,” will be divided in a number of segments, with the first part of the day taking place at Edmond Town Hall and the later portion to be held at The Al Hedaya Islamic Center.
