Ruth Weinstein

Ruth Weinstein of Southbury died at her home December 6. She was a devoted wife to Attorney Albert L. Weinstein for 49 years. She was born in Bridgeport, and was a daughter of the late Ethel and Morris Butensky. She was raised on her parents' farm in Newtown.The Newtown Bee         December 9, 2016

She had a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, and a Sixth-Year Certificate in Education. While attending college, she was employed part-time as a waitress at the Hawley Manor Inn in Newtown.

She began her career as a social worker for the State of Connecticut and then became a teacher at the University of Bridgeport, after which she became a remedial reading specialist in the Fairfield Connecticut Elementary School System, from which she retired. After her retirement, she was a volunteer for several charitable organizations.

Her beloved husband; a sister, Rae Butensky; two nephews and a niece and their spouses survive Mrs Weinstein.

A private graveside service will take place Friday, December 9, at Agudas Achim Cemetery in Fairfield. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, December 14, at 7 pm, at B'nai Israel Synagogue, 444 Main Street North, Southbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to B'nai Israel Synagogue, 444 Main Street North, PO Box 350 Southbury CT 06488.
