To the Editor:News-Times about St John's Episcopal Church selling their property and wanting to donate the land which holds a memorial lovingly deemed "Rock of Angels" to the town. [Visit newtownbee.com to find several articles regarding this memorial.]

I am not a Newtown resident, but a neighbor in Brookfield. I write today in regards to an article I read in the

When I learned of this memorial, it spoke to my heart. We all shared in the horror, pain, angst, and tears of what occurred on that fateful day. This man, Richard Gray, poured his sorrow and love into a beautiful monument to honor those precious souls we lost. Together with his young daughter and an army of volunteers he produced a loving, beautiful tribute worthy for all to see. To all your readers, if you have not personally seen it, I highly recommend you do. Two design features I admire most are the names of the children written in a childlike hand with Crayola colors, and the angels along the base that glow at night, signifying the sparkle of each beautiful soul it represents.

The purpose of my note is to respectfully ask that the town ensure this piece does not get lost amongst the red tape of a real estate deal. Personally, I think it would be a beautiful focal point for the memorial that is currently being planned. If not the focal point, then certainly there could be a place on the land that is purchased to allow this labor of love to shine.

A memorial is a place to pause, reflect, remember and mourn; to acknowledge the families, the grief, and the love that bind all who visit. How inviting it would be to perhaps have a butterfly garden, a koi pond with a gentle fountain and the "Rock of Angels" nestled in the middle. My vision may be elaborate, but I assure you if the town were to include this memorial in its plans it will only enhance this special place and it will speak to many hearts.

Thank you for allowing me this forum to share my thoughts.

Regards,

Heather Argenio
