Rocco J. Tavella

Rocco J. Tavella, 91, formerly of Danbury, died peacefully January 30 at the home of his son Joseph and daughter-in-law MaryAnn of Monroe, surrounded by his family. He was born in Stratford in 1924, the son of the late Mariarosa (Cichello) and Nino Antonio Tavella.

Three sons and wives, Philip and Wendy Tavella of Newtown, Joseph and MaryAnn Tavella of Monroe, and Anthony and Kimberly Tavella of New Milford; two sisters, Anna Gallo of Trumbull and Agnus Lazor or Monroe; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive Mr Tavella. His wife Margaret (Nassif) Tavella and brothers Sam, Jack, Anthony, and Philip Tavella predeceased him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to AnnMarie, Archi, Sharon, and Marsha for their care of Mr Tavella.

He attended Bridgeport schools. A resident of Danbury since 1951, Mr Tavella retired from Ampenol Corporation, where he worked for more than 40 years.

He was a member of the Danbury senior center and St Gregory the Great Parish.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 3, at 11 am, at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Newtown. Family and friends may visit the Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, Wednesday morning, from 9 to 10 am.
