Patricia "Patty" Ann Vontobel, 86, a longtime resident of New Milford and Ridgefield, died peacefully at Bethel Health Care on September 14. She was born in Stamford, daughter of the late Morris and Helen Duane Vagedes. She was married to her beloved husband Robert "Bob" Vontobel, a marriage that lasted 29 years until his untimely death in 1980.

Her sons Dane and his wife, Michele, of Newtown; Terry and his wife, Susan Durkee, of Redding; Craig of Northville, N.Y.; and her daughter, Stacey Peterson and her husband, Bob, of New Milford, survive her. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Danielle Vontobel, Rachel Vontobel, Michael Vontobel, Kayla Peterson, Sloane Vontobel, and Jake Peterson. Additional survivors include her sister Ann Krupnik; her faithful cousin Connie Meehan; numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews; and extended family members.

She was best known for being a loving homemaker to her children and the most endearing Grammy to her treasured grandchildren, as well as any child who passed through her front door. She was also known for her many years of work outside of home at the West Lane Inn, formerly Tode's Inn and the Inn of Ridgefield.

Mrs Vontobel's infamous "one-liners" will truly be missed by all of those who had the pleasure to engage in a conversation. Rest assured, her sarcastic wit will never be forgotten and will live on through those that were closest to her.

The family would like to offer its heartfelt thank you to the staff at Bethel Health Care and Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut for the care and counsel provided to her over the past two years.

Her faith in God and dedication to the Catholic Church was of the utmost importance to her. Thus, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 17, at 10:15 am, in St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, with interment to follow at St Mary's Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, on Friday, September 16, from 4 to 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury 06810, regionalhospicect.org, who ensured Mrs Vontobel was comfortable and at peace in her last days.
