    Stephen John Dawson, 56, of Stormville, N.Y., died August 22. He was born in Flushing, N.Y., December 18, 1957 to Geraldine (Rehmann) and John W. Dawson. He worked for the Newtown Public School System for 18 years, as an IT Technician.

  • James Bassett

    James “Jimmy” Bassett, 57, of Barefoot Bay, Fla. and formerly of Danbury, died August 20, after fighting end stage heart disease for over 14 years. He was born in Danbury, September 20, 1956.In addition to his wife of 25 years, Sue Sheehan Bassett, his sister Lori Hubina and her husband, Paul, of Newtown, his brother Glen and his wife, Beth, of Brewster, Mass., his sisters Wendy Weyer of Danbury and Allison Sagnelli of Brookfield; his sisters-in-law Maureen Hoock and Eileen McCann; and brother-in-law Terry Sheehan of Trumbull survive Mr Bassett.

  • Clarence F. Schneider

    Clarence F. Schneider, 82, of Newtown died August 18 at his home. Born December 21, 1931, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the only son of Edith and Clarence Schneider.

  • William Sheldon Jarrett

    William Sheldon Jarrett, 87, of Heritage Village, Southbury, and former 30-year Newtown resident, died after a long affliction with Alzheimer’s disease, August 14. He was born May 25, 1927, in Livingston, N.J. He was the husband for 63 years of Francine Helen Snyder Jarrett and the son of the late LeGrand and Mary Sheldon Jarrett.

  • Benjamin C. Patt, Jr

    Benjamin C. Patt, Jr, 81, born October 4, 1932, lost his battle with cancer August 3, at Hospice House in Vero Beach, Fla. He was a longtime resident of Connecticut, living in Fairfield County for many years.

  • William Edward Roesch

    William Edward Roesch, 72, died peacefully August 9 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He was born in Bridgeport, the son of Rose and William Roesch.

  • Burton A. Corbett

    Burton A. Corbett, 80, of Southbury, and a longtime former resident of Newtown, died at New Milford Hospital August 9 after a brief illness. He was born August 12, 1933, in Ridgefield, son of Elsie (Coulter) and Arthur E. Corbett.

  • Phyllis A. Wrinn

    Phyllis A. “Pat” (Murphy) Wrinn of Newtown died peacefully August 11. She was born in Meriden, April 6, 1931, the daughter of Marion and Joseph Murphy. Mrs Wrinn was a retired registered nurse with a bachelor's degree from Western Connecticut State University (1978).

  • Dr Fredric K. Baff

    Dr Fredric K. Baff, 75, of Newtown died August 8 at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1963. Dr Baff was the owner of Plumtrees Animal Hospital in Danbury for more than 30 years.

  • William J. Chockey, Sr

    William J. Chockey, Sr, 70, of Fairfield died August 4. He was born in Bridgeport and served in the US Army in Vietnam. His sons and spouses, Richard A. and Tanya Chockey of Newtown, William J. Chockey, Jr, and Claudia of Naugatuck, Jamie A. and Madeline Chockey of Naugatuck, and daughters Cheryl A. Chockey and Candace L. Chockey, both of Fairfield, survive him.
