Leslie V. Konneker, 66, of Newtown, died October 14, at home, surrounded by her loved ones and with a cat on her lap. She was the wife of Gregory P. Konneker. Ms Konneker was born January 31, 1947, in Bronxville, N.Y., a daughter of Charles and Irene (Vaughan) Towson. She grew up in the White Plains, N.Y. area.
Dr Erwin Thater, 89, of Newtown, died at his residence, October 10. Dr Thater was born in Ridgewood, Queens, N.Y., November 9, 1923. He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Gordon) Thater. He was a resident of Newtown for the past two years, coming from Garden City, L.I., N.Y.
John Henry Will Jr, 84, died on October 4, 2013. He was born April 26, 1929, in Danbury, the son of Margaret (Caroll) and John Will Sr. He is survived by five children, including John Will III of Sandy Hook; five grandchildren, including Katherine Will of Sandy Hook; a great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and visitors on Tuesday, October 8, from 4 to 7 pm, at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street in Danbury. A funeral service will be conducted at 7 pm. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Brookfield, at the convenience of the family.
Axel C. Tryde, 96, of Sandy Hook, formerly of Georgetown, Conn., died peacefully September 13, at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, with his family at his bedside and his beloved sea outside his window. He was born in Grimstad, Norway, in 1917, and went to sea at the age of 14 with the Norwegian Merchant Marine.
David Alan Harris died on September 25, following an extended illness. Mr Harris, 83, was a longtime resident of Newtown. He was born on February 11, 1930, in Southgate, Middlesex, England, to Agnes and Reginald Harris. He is survived his daughter and son-in-law, Nicky and Tom Conroy of Newtown; a stepson, Christian Chemero of Newtown; a stepdaughter, Lisa Galloway of Brookfield; and seven grandchildren. Memorial arrangements will be made by the family at a later date.
Shirley A. Fredlund-Ruiz of New Milford died September 30. Born Shirley Mae Anderson, the daughter of Nellie Elizabeth Hine and Carl T. Anderson, she was born in Bridgeport and lived in New Milford all her life, except for 18 months spent in Fargo, N.D.
Clare (Franklin) Cosgrove, 95, of Newtown, died September 28, at Pope John Paul II Care and Rehabilitation Center, Danbury. She was born in Cloonalaghan-Lacken, Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland, February 17, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Martin and Catherine (Collins) Franklin, and the wife of the late Michael Cosgrove.
