  • Frederick A. Crouch

    Frederick A. Crouch, 67, died peacefully December 23, following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Mary Dougherty Crouch. Born in Rosenheim, Germany, September 20, 1946, he was the son of Anna Crouch and the late Dave Crouch.Mr Crouch was raised in the Sandy Hook section of Newtown.

  • Dolores Stafko

    Dolores Ann (D’Amico) Stafko, 73, beloved wife of Philip D. Stafko of Sandy Hook, died on December 22 at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born on December 31, 1939, in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Bessie (Ginolfi) and Michael D’Amico. In addition to her husband of 53 years, she is survived by her two cherished children, Sharon (Stafko) Carter, and her husband Jeff, of Hopkinton, Mass., and Daniel Stafko, and his wife Karen, of Southington. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, siblings Mary (D’Amico) Piccuillo of Trumbull and Peter D’Amico of Shelton, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road in Newtown, on Tuesday, December 31, at 10 am.

    Patricia A. Benkovich, 67, of Sandy Hook, died December 22, at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of Andrew Benkovich. She was born in Manchester, Conn., May 24, 1946, a daughter of Carl and Esther (Pitkin) Schwarz.

    Janet Michale Vitello, 73, of Newtown, died December 14. She was born in Bridgeport, November 7, 1940, to Michael Vitello and Julia (Sagarena) Vitello.

  • Fritzi Walkey Klopfenstein

    Fritzi Walkey Klopfenstein, 98, died December 16, at Churchman Village retirement home in Newark, Del. The daughter of Dr Fred L. Walkey and Mable Kintzley Walkey, she was born on Groundhog Day, February 2, 1915, in West Lafayette, Ind.

    ohn C. Doty, 57, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of 22 years to Doreen Valacka Doty, died peacefully December 14. Born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., he was the son of the late Shirley Annis and John Charles Doty, Jr.

  • Gladys Emma Phillips

    Gladys Emma Phillips, 94, of Roseland, Fla., died December 7, at Sebastian River Medical Center. She was born in Waterbury, resided in New Haven, and then moved to the lakeside community of Shady Rest in Sandy Hook.

    Doris Pearson Laird, 94, of Newtown, wife of the late James S. Laird, died December 12, in Southbury. She was born in New Haven, September 29, 1919, daughter of Raymond and Emma Rausch Pearson.

  • Rebecca Watson

    Rebecca (Schmaling) Watson, 57, of Waterbury, died December 5, at Waterbury Hospital, after a long illness. She was born February 8, 1955, in Stamford.

  • Walter John Castings

    Walter “Walt” John Castings, 64, of Woodbury, died December 9, at St Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury, with his loving wife Katie Coad by his side. He was born in Pawtucket, R.I., November 29, 1949, and was the son of the late Donald and Norma (Ware) Castings.
