    Edward Vincent Turco, 83, died peacefully at his home in Newtown September 28, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Westerly, R.I., on February 23, 1932, and was a son of the late Antonio and Carmela Turco.

    Doris (Fazekas) Norton, 83, of Monroe, beloved wife of 48 years to the late Joseph J. Norton, died peacefully October 29. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Lecza Fazekas.

    Zoltan G. Szarka, 86, of Sandy Hook died peacefully October 29, with his family at his side, after a brief but valiant fight with cancer. Born in Shelton, June 21, 1929, he was the son of the late Grace and Louis Szarka.

    Kevin Joseph Klein, 59, a resident of Brookfield, died in a car accident October 25, in Middlebury. He was a native of Cheektowaga, N.Y., and the son of Barbara and the late Joseph Klein.

    William “Bill” Tyler Saunders, 60, of Fairfield, died peacefully October 19. Born November 28, 1954, he was the son of the late Martha Ann Tyler Saunders Fox and William Kenneth Saunders.

  • Earl J. Smith, Jr

    Earl John Smith, Jr, 87, born in Hartford, February 21, 1928, to Ethel (Tormay) and Earl J. Smith, died Thursday, October 22, at Danbury Hospital. His loving wife, Vera, of 50 years; daughter Judith of Sandy Hook; son Earl, and his wife Kathleen, of South Windsor, and son Joseph of Silver Springs, Md., survive Mr Smith. Early in life, Mr Smith attended St Thomas Seminary. He served honorably as a chaplain’s assistant in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to the United States, he attended both Fairfield University and Trinity College, and earned a master’s degree in education. He found his calling in Newtown as a Latin and English teacher at Newtown High School.
