Nancy A. Hewitt, 62, of Lady Lake, Fla., died unexpectedly February 21 at her home. She was the daughter of Natalie (Gleason) Hewitt and Clinton Hewitt, formerly of Garden City, N.Y., and Newtown.
Her siblings Clint Hewitt and Natalie Hewitt Hoeffel, both of Newtown, Ruth Hewitt of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Drew Hewitt and his family of Houston, Texas; six nieces and nephews; one grandniece; many close friends; and Christopher Hoeffel of Bethel survive Ms Hewitt. She leaves behind her dog, a faithful companion of ten years.
Ms Hewitt lived most of her life in Florida and worked as a medical technician at the Villages Regional Hospital before her retirement. Although she was a Floridian, she never forgot her roots in Garden City and in Newtown.
She loved being with her friends, golfing, playing softball, and dancing. She will always be remembered for her zest for living, her sense of humor, and her spontaneity. She will be especially remembered by her high school friends from the Class of ’69 for reuniting the best of friendships and good times. She was a good friend to old friends and new. She was a special gift to all who knew her and will be sorely missed.
A private memorial will be held in Newtown, in the summer.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Newtown Animal Shelter, 3 Primrose Street, Newtown CT 06470.
