‘Peter Pan’ Soaring Toward Next Weekend’s Showings

Newtown High School junior Victoria Madden was practicing her “flying” techniques after school on Monday, March 10.

Victoria is set to play the lead in the high school’s upcoming production of Peter Pan in the March 20 to 23 showings of the musical.

Peter Pan tells the story of a boy who lives in a land called Neverland and never grows up.

Performances will be Thursday to Saturday, March 20 to 22, at 7 pm; and Sunday, March 23, at 2 pm. Ticket prices are $16 for general admission and $12 for students and seniors, and tickets will be available at the door. Tickets are also available in advance by emailing nhsmusicals@gmail.com or by calling 203-364-4534.

Professional equipment has been brought in to help bring the story’s magic to life on the NHS stage. In order to afford the gear and professional assistance to install the equipment, NHS parent Linda Watson set up a website (www.gofundme.com/6b741k) to raise a goal of $5,000. Corporate sponsors looking to contribute to the cause can also e-mail matsonj@newtown.k12.ct.us, to reach director Jane Matson. By Monday, March 10, $2,080 had been raised through the website.

More than 75 students will appear in the cast, and a full cast list is available at nhschorus.com/musical.html.
