Newtown High School’s gymnastics team placed second in the South-West Conference championship meet in New Milford on February 19. The Nighthawks scored 130.65 points and were narrowly edged out for first by host New Milford (130.9).
Pomperaug of Southbury scored 127.3 points for a third-place finish, and Nonnewaug of Woodbury came in fourth with 123.1.
Newtown’s Anna Jannott finished third in the all around with a cumulative score of 33.050. Jannott was third on the vault with a score of 8.6, third on the balance beam with an 8.5, and had an 8.45 score for her floor exercise.
Elisha Wilson had an 8.35 on the vault 8.35, and 8.5 on the beam, which was good for third, and an 8.5 on the floor.
Kaitlyn Tumney scored an 8.35 on the vault, had an 8.0 on the uneven bars, and an 8.75 on the floor.
Meagan Foy scored an 8.3 on the vault, and Jennifer Indelicato had an 8.35 on the vault. Daisey Zheng logged an 8.35 on the beam, and Samantha Gilbert had an 8.25 on the floor.
