Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC), Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut, and The Connecticut Office of the Arts have come together to create HealingNewtown Arts Space at 5 Queen Street.
The following events have recently been added to the arts center’s schedule. *Wednesday, April 17, 11 am and 1 pm, The Joy of Art.
Kindergarten age children are invited to enjoy a chance to express their artistic talents freely while being introduced to various arts and crafts projects.
Through direction and suggestions, children will be guided through friendship bead making bracelets and necklaces, paper plate bugs, and other fun and lively arts and craft projects.
Children are welcome to attend one or both of these one-hour workshops.

Singing Sound bowls concert. Stephanie Hope will also join in to lead some gentle movement/meditation/energy work.
Bring a yoga mat or towel to lie down for the performance.
*Saturday, April 20, 2 pm, Magic Show.
A family fun magic show provided by Jeff Doskos and several other performers from the Society of American Magicians Assembly 127, based out of Wallingford, will offer two hours of entertainment for the whole family.
*Tuesday, April 23, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm (come to both sessions; call for details), Happy Spring into Watercolor.
For moms with young children interested in some creative relaxation time, artist Grace McEnaney offers a workshop in painting favorite flowers in watercolor. Your final painting will be turned in to a notecard.
*Tuesday, April 23, 6 pm, Guitar Center Workshop.
The final of four one-hour courses using Hal Leonard’s Standardized curriculum for basic guitar. Students of all ages will learn the most common chords in popular music, basic strumming techniques and how to tune and maintain your guitar.
