Occupation: I am the owner/operator of Family Fun Kuts in Sandy Hook Center. I’ve been a hairdresser for 39 years. We own Fun Kids Consignments, as well, selling clothing, toys, furniture, gifts, and equipment for children of all ages.

Family: I’ve been married to Felix for 25 years. We have a 24-year-old son, Daniel, and a 20-year-old daughter, Hayley.

Pets: We have two dogs, Brandy, a Shih Tzu, and Dusty, a Westy. Those are our other kids.

How long have you been in Newtown? We live in Bethel, but we’ve owned Fun Kuts for almost ten years, first in a space closer to Glen Road. We expanded to our location at 111 Church Hill and opened the consignment store three years ago.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to spend time with my family and friends. In the summertime, we like to go to the beaches. We like to have people over and entertain. Sometimes, with my daughter, we do some drawing and painting together.

Do you have a favorite television show? I’ve been watching the Downton Abby series. Some friends got me into it, and I find it pretty interesting. My favorite character so far is Mary. She’s headstrong and she does what she wants!

Do you have a favorite vacation destination? For years we’ve gone to the Rhode Island beaches. A couple of years ago we went to the Delaware beaches and really liked them, so we’re going back this summer. There are so many people, and the beaches are nice and clean. Delaware is also not so far away. We go with all the family, so it’s fun with all of the cousins there together.

What is the best thing about Newtown? It’s so family oriented. It makes me feel close to the people, because I am so family oriented. I feel like all the people I’ve met through my businesses are my family now.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My father. He’s 90 years old now. My mom died when I was 16, so he became my mother and father. It’s through him that I learned to be a good person and a good parent, like he is.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Treat people the way you’d like to be treated. And love — if you share love, you’ll get that back. It makes you feel good.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Gummi Bears! I love them! My kids me those big, three-pound bags, and I think I could eat it all by myself. I’m like a big kid!
