Noah Burhance, a student in the third form (ninth grade) at Kent School in Kent, was named to the high honor roll for the winter term of 2012-2013 at the school. Kent is a co-ed college preparatory school founded in 1906 in the tradition of the Episcopal Church; the school offers boys and girls a rigorous and interesting academic program in a boarding environment.

The following local residents made the dean’s list for the winter quarter at Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology; all are in RIT’s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences: third-year students Sarah Talbot of Newtown and Hunter Haubert of Sandy Hook, and fourth year student Chelsea Fay of Sandy Hook.

Austin Hubbert of Newtown was named to the winter term dean’s list at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford. Choate Rosemary Hall is an independent secondary school.

Amanda Krause, a second year law student at Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C., was a winner with her legal partner Adam Wesolowski in a recent prestigious international Moot Court competition, the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition. Amanda and Adam will now advance to the finals of the competition, which will be held in China in September.

Michaela Beaudry and Paige Olson of Newtown s have been named to the dean’s list at the Savannah (Ga.) College of Art and Design for fall quarter. Full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade point average of 3.5 or above for the quarter receive recognition on the dean’s list at the college.

The following area students were recently named to the winter honor roll at the Loomis Chaffee School, a college preparatory school in Windsor: Patrick Afriyie, a junior from Sandy Hook, received Honor Roll and Christian Blais, a junior from Sandy Hook, received High Honor Roll.

Erin Leigh Bell of Sandy Hook was named to the Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, president’s list. Miami University students who are ranked in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division for first semester 2012-13 have been named to the president’s list recognizing academic excellence, according to the university.

The following local residents students were granted an achievement for earning a spot on the dean’s list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y: Amy Kung, Jay Lee, amd Michael Tuccio of Newtown, and Arthur Simonds and Eric McCabe of Sandy Hook. The dean’s list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute recognizes full-time students who maintain grade-point averages of a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grades below “C.”

The Gunnery in Washington, announced the following Newtown residents achieved for the college preparatory school’s fall term dean’s list: Ariana E. Dominicus, Alexis R. Dominicus, and Cole M. Rogalin.
