The 4th annual Strutt Your Mutt event will be Saturday, May 18, from 11 am to 4 pm, at Fairfield Hills.
Organizers are encouraging all dog owners to “grab the leash and join us.” The entry fee is $5 per dog, cash only.
Guests can see demonstrations in dog agility and obedience, and enjoy vendors’ tables.
Newtown Parks & Recreation Assistant Director of Recreation RoseAnn Reggiano is looking forward to the upcoming day, and a host of special vendors offering collars for sale, pet nail clipping, ear cleaning and temporary tattooing.
The Spay And Neuter Association of Newtown will hold a tag sale, and Newtown Veterinary Services will have a booth called Ask Your Vet.
T-shirts with the slogan “A Tired Dog Is A Good Dog” will again be available this year, in a new color, for $10. All proceeds go toward Park and Bark, an off-leash dog park to be constructed near the town’s animal control center.
One booth will be selling purple bandanas in honor of Olivia Engel.
Entertainment will be provided by the 99DollarDJ John Voket.
According to NewtownParkAndPark.org, “This is a year of community, healing, and exercise.” With that in mind, certified therapy dogs from Canine Training Behavioral Services will lead a walk along the paths at Fairfield Hills. The walk is intended for all ages; dogs must remain on a leash at all times.
