Rockefeller Estate and Union Church, Tarrytown, N.Y. - An excursion that will depart Newtown High School approximately at 8:30 am is set for Saturday, June 4, $99. The excursion to the Rockefeller Estate and Union Church will highlight the home to four generations of the Rockefeller family. Kykuit (pronounced "Kye-cut") commands a breathtaking view of the Hudson River and a landscape of extensive stone terraces, formal gardens, and glorious fountains. The gardens include Nelson Rockefeller's extraordinary collection of 20th Century sculpture including works by Moore, Calder, Nevelson, and Picasso. The house is furnished with antiques, fine ceramics, and paintings. The Coach Barn houses vintage automobiles and carriages. Participants will have a guided tour, and they will have time to enjoy lunch in downtown Tarrytown. The afternoon will consist of a guided tour of the Union Church in Pocantico Hills. The church is adorned with stained glass windows by Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse that were commissioned by the Rockefeller Family. They create dramatic combinations of light and color at this small country church.

Introduction to Sewing - A two-session course from 6 to 8 pm starting Thursday, April 28, $59. Participants will learn the basics of sewing by creating easy pillows that can be made to measure in almost any fabric featuring a removable cover that does not require a zipper. All materials will be purchased following the first class session with guidance from the instructor. Students should bring their sewing machine, manual, and accessories. The course is limited to eight students.

Tangling Around - A one-session class from 6:30 to 8:30 pm starting on Thursday, April 29, $29. Participants will learn to draw a mandala then add Zentangle designs. When Zentangles meet mandalas, it is all about symmetry and fun. No prior Zentangle experience is necessary. Students will need to purchase supplies and a list will be provided.

Creative Jewelry - A one-session class from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, May 4, $29. Participants will learn to design and make their own unique jewelry. A variety of materials will be provided for participants to create one-of-a-kind gifts for their friends and family. Students will design and make bracelets, necklaces, and earrings using beads, pearls, wood, crystals, charms, and clay beads. A materials fee of $10 is payable to the instructor the first class.

Introduction to Sewing: Make a Tote Bag - A three-session class from 6 to 8 pm starting on Thursday, May 19, $59. Participants will learn basic sewing skills while making a simple tote using a standard sewing pattern. Participants will learn sewing machine basics, and will have fun learning all about fabrics, how to read a pattern, and how to put it all together. All materials will be purchased by the student following the first class session with guidance from the instructor. Participants are asked to bring their own sewing machine, manual, and accessories to class.

Yoga Stretch with Missy - A six-session class from 6:30 to 7:30 pm starting on Wednesday, May 4, $69. Participants will unwind from a stress-filled day with a relaxing evening of yoga. Transform from tense and tight to mellow and limber. This yoga practice is designed to lengthen and stretch breath. Wear sweatpants and bring exercise/yoga mat. A yoga strap and a yoga block are optional.

Ballroom Dancing - A four-session class from 7 to 8 pm starting Thursday, May 5, $99/couple or $51/single. Participants will learn the Trot, Waltz, Cha-Cha, and more. Joe Williams and Noni Low have been dancing together for more than 20 years and teaching ballroom dance for beginners to advanced for 15 years. Their basic concept of ballroom dancing consists of having fun with easy to learn instructions. Couples and singles welcome.

Cardio Calorie Blast - A 12-session class starting Tuesday, May 3, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, $89. Participants will increase energy with uplifting and upbeat class that provides three workouts in one. This efficient and effective workout will include aerobics, toning exercises, and yoga stretching. You will utilize the latest fitness principles to maximize calorie and fat burning, in addition to ways to increase the intensity of exercise. All levels of fitness are welcome. Low-impact, low-intensity exercises, and modifications to exercises will be demonstrated. Wear comfortable clothing and sneakers. Bring bottled water, an exercise or yoga mat, and a pair of hand weights (3 lbs for beginners, 5 lbs+ for advanced).

Introduction to PowerPoint - A two-session class from 6:30 to 9 pm starting on Monday, May 9, $69. PowerPoint is the most commonly used presentation program available, both in school and for business. PowerPoint allows the user to create dynamic presentations that can include text, bullet lists, tables, charts, graphics, transitions, and animations. This hands-on workshop shows participants how to get the most out of PowerPoint using all of the features mentioned.

Backup Strategies - A one-session class from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, May 19, $39. Participants will learn to back up their irreplaceable computer data, what causes data loss, what they can do to prevent data loss, what types of files should be backed up, backup choices, and effective backup strategies.

Tying It All Together, Integrating the Microsoft Office Suite to Suit Your Needs - A one-session class from 6:30 to 9 pm Monday, May 23, $39. Participants will learn how to use Microsoft Office products, like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint more effectively in their daily work load.
